Many children and their parents have headed to malls to support the local athletes in their Paris Olympics journey, with children stating that they see the Olympians as inspiration and hope to bring good results to Hong Kong in the future. Today is the third day of the Olympics, and there will be plenty of Hong Kong team action, with the city’s golden boy Edgar Cheung Ka-long set to defend his Olympic gold in the foil event and Siobhan Haughey making it into the women’s 200m freestyle final. At a mall in Kwun Tong, there was plenty of decoration to liven up and bring out the Olympic flair, with many citizens bringing their children to watch the broadcast in front of the big screens. A young girl surnamed Yiu was in table tennis attire and stated that she loved playing table tennis and had been playing the sport for a year, hoping to become a professional table tennis player and win honors for Hong Kong. She also believed that doing sports can nurture the children's mentality never to give up and stay resilient, hoping to use the current Olympic atmosphere to make her son do more sports.
