Chelsea may risk early conflict with their next head coach over a reported £75million plan to axe Conor Gallagher and Trevoh Chalobah this summer. Gallagher shone under Pochettino last season, captaining the team in the absence of Reece James. The England international, who is included in a provisional squad for Euro 2024, scored seven goals and provided nine assists across all competitions. Defender Chalobah also excelled after returning from a lengthy absence in the second half of the campaign. The 24-year-old featured 17 times and his integration at centre-back coincided with an upturn in form in the final months of the season.
