On Friday, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau unveiled more Canadian commitments to Ukraine in the form of four battle tanks and additional ammunition, accompanied by sanctions for more Russian businesses and individuals. This comes as the country marks its sixth year embroiled in a war, as a result of Russian President Vladimir Putin‘s “cowardly acts”. Along with the tanks and ammunition, Canada has also provided over $5 billion in aid and military equipment such as air defence systems, rocket launchers and defensive equipment. The Ukrainian Canadian Congress (UCC) urged Canada to take a leadership role and provide more aid, including fighter jets and a full trade embargo if Russia is declared a terrorist state. Several rallies were held across the country Friday to call for Putin to end the war in Ukraine.
