COVID is an ongoing threat

Across Canada, as the Star’s Megan Ogilvie recently reported, COVID hospitalizations are at their lowest since early 2022 and Ontario’s waste-water signal — the best indicator of daily COVID cases — continues to decline. They note, too, that while COVID hospitalizations have dropped, cases are still higher than during the first two summers of the pandemic. COVID remains a strain on health systems. As of last week, WHO counted almost seven million deaths from COVID worldwide. It would be a costly error to repeat in the COVID battle.
