Major cuts at Canada’s public broadcaster as it looks to address a $125-million budget shortfall. CBC/Radio-Canada plans to cut 600 union and non-union positions over the next year. It will also eliminate about 200 positions that are currently vacant across the corporation. “CBC/Radio-Canada is not immune to the upheaval facing the Canadian media industry,” president and CEO Catherine Tait said in a news release. “We will have more details in the months ahead, but we are doing everything we can to minimize the impact of these measures.”
