On July 26, CBC News broadcast a reporter by journalist Margaret Evans chronicling the preservation of the “cultural heritage” of Palestinians, highlighted by a new exhibit on display at the Palestinian History Museum in Ramallah. That’s certainly what the Palestinian History Museum itself attempts to do. It would be hard to find a more appropriate metaphor for the Palestinian propensity to erase the Jewish history and connection to the land and claim it for their own. What ancient artifacts from the Palestinian culture are being displayed to demonstrate this long-standing and tragic history of a people displaced? CBC News would perhaps do well to take a page from the Israel Museum and look to a message of inclusivity, coexistence and hope, rather than continuing to fan the flames of anti-Israel hatred and Palestinian victimhood.
