South Lanarkshire Council has revealed carriageway repairs are set to get underway along the A72 Palace Grounds Road in the town. The local authority said carriageway patching works will take place from the road's junctions with Motherwell Road Roundabout up to and including Muir Street Roundabout. It will be carried out in four phases between 9pm each night and 6am the following morning, with the road being closed during the works. While road users won't be able to access the area throughout the works, the council has said they will 'endeavour to maintain access' for businesses/residents/and people who work in the closed areas. “We apologise for any inconvenience that may occur during these essential road improvement works.”
