We seek candidates with an active research agenda that focuses on the history of the modern middle east and north Africa, whose work is comparative or transnational, and who include ethics, gender, race, and/or coloniality in their analysis. We expect successful candidates to have a Ph.D. by the time of appointment in History, Middle East Studies, North African Studies, or from other related interdisciplinary backgrounds, and to have linguistic competence and field experience in their research area. Our mission is to mentor and educate students to become creative, ethical, and impactful communicators across cultural and national boundaries. Located at the confluence of continents, NU-Q is a diverse global community with approximately 500 students from 60 countries. Responsibilities include teaching such courses as the History of the Modern Middle East and contributing courses to the Middle East Studies minor.
