Dr. Christine BaesDr. Christine Baes, a livestock genomics researcher in the Ontario Agricultural College, discussed her work to breed dairy cattle to produce less methane with several media outlets. Along with her research team, Baes helped create the first national genetic evaluation tool to help select low-methane dairy cows. Baes discussed the research with CBC Radio’s weekend program Fresh Air, CTV Kitchener, and 900 CHML Radio. Baes is the head of the Resilient Dairy Genome Project,.which is using genomics tools to breed cattle that process their feed more efficiently and release fewer gases. She is a professor in the Department of Animal Biosciences and holds the Canada Research Chair in Livestock Genomics.
