Awami League supporters in New York have organised a human chain and rally to protest the violent incidents surrounding the National Citizen Party (NCP) march and rally in Gopalganj. Leaders and activists of the US Awami League, New York Metropolitan Awami League, and the Ekattorer Prohori Foundation participated in the programme organised at Diversity Plaza in Jackson Heights on Wednesday. Speakers at the rally offered their condolences in remembrance of the victims in Gopalganj and called for an impartial investigation into the incident, demanding that those responsible be brought to justice. They said, “Freedom of expression is being disrupted in Bangladesh, and violence at political events is rising at an alarming rate.”The human chain was attended by key leaders of the US Awami League, including President Siddiqur Rahman, General Secretary Samad Azad, and Organising Secretary Mohiuddin Dewan. Participants held up banners and placards while chanting various slogans.
