Mir Mohammad Sajedur Rahman, chief of Gopalganj Sadar Police Station, said the case was filed in the wee hours of Friday by Inspector Ahmed Ali of Gopinathpur Police Station in Gopalganj Sadar Upazila. A group of people, allegedly led by Ataur Rahman Piyal, general secretary of the banned Awami League affiliate Chhatra League, attacked policemen on duty. The case lists 75 named individuals, including Piyal and Newton Mollah, the district president of Chhatra League, according to the Gopalganj Sadar police chief.
