MUNSHIGANJ, July 11: At least 20 people have been injured in a five-vehicle pile-up on the Dhaka-Mawa Expressway in Munshiganj, disrupting traffic on the busy highway.The accident, which occurred around 12pm on Friday, involved a series of crashes beginning with a Dhaka-bound passenger bus operated by Imad Paribahan, police said.The bus struck a private car from behind after descending from the Padma Bridge, before hitting another bus operated by Ishish Paribahan.The Imad Paribahan bus then veered over the road divider and landed on the Mawa-bound lane, according to Abdul Quader Jilani, the chief of the Hasara Highway Police Outpost.A motorcycle veered out of control during the commotion, and a bus operated by Hilsha Paribahan collided with an easy bike, Jilani said.Rescue workers from the Fire Service and Civil Defence rushed to the scene and sent the injured to several hospitals.The damaged vehicles were later removed, and traffic resumed on the expressway.Earlier, around 10:30am, a pickup truck carrying firewood overturned after a tyre puncture in the Dogachi area of Srinagar Upazila.The driver's assistant was injured in that incident. �"bdnews24.com
