Malaysian Pharmacists Society president Amrahi Buang said although taking vitamins was helpful, supplements alone was not sufficient to boost one’s immune system. “Vitamin C as a supplement is generally accepted but people should not take such a high dose. Dr Hoe said a high dose of vitamin C had its own complications and should only be given under strict medical supervision. QUITO (Reuters) - Newly-installed Ecuadorean President Guillermo Lasso's pick to be the oil-producing country's next energy and mines minister withdrew from consideration on Friday, a week after resigning from the board of directors of a mining company. "It is essential to be rigorous in the strict compliance with the legal requirements necessary to assume a public role," Salas wrote in a LinkedIn post on Friday. (May 28): Brazilian soccer player Neymar hit back at sportswear maker Nike Inc on Friday, saying the company's statement that it terminated an endorsement deal because he refused to cooperate with an investigation into the alleged sexual assault of a Nike employee was "an absurd lie". Neymar, who plays for Paris St Germain, denies the allegations and said he did not know the employee in question. The incident allegedly took place in 2016 but the employee initially requested to keep the matter confidential and Nike only opened its investigation in 2019 after the woman expressed an interest in legal action, according to a Nike statement. Nike said it had ended its relationship with Neymar because "the athlete refused to cooperate in a good faith investigation of credible allegations of wrongdoing by an employee". Brazilian authorities dropped that investigation against Neymar, citing lack of evidence, and later charged the model with slander, extortion and procedural fraud.

KUALA LUMPUR (May 28): Digital Edge reached out to local thought leaders to get a better idea of just what went wrong with the recently concluded online registration for the AstraZeneca vaccine. Overall UX was much better than the Covid vaccine registration, which opened for application about two hours later. “From what I can tell, McDonald’s adopted a different approach than the Covid vaccine registration website. While there were indeed many problems with this third online vaccine registration, the fact that nearly a million slots were taken up in the space of about 90 minutes bodes well for the country’s vaccination programme. “Based on the information we have right now, it seems that nearly a million vaccine registrations were made that day.

We refer to the article "Vax rollout to be revved up" on The Star Online. In the article, we inadvertently omitted the words "strongly denied" in a quote attributed to National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme coordinating minister Khairy Jamaluddin. The line should have read "He strongly denied claims that Muslims are given the Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine while non-Muslims are given the Sinovac vaccine." He was responding to viral allegations that Muslims and non-Muslims had been segregated at the vaccination centre at the Desa Tasik Sports Complex. He said 42 individuals, who were going to carry out their haj as well as other pilgrimage staff, were scheduled that day to receive their Pfizer vaccines at the centre in line with Saudi Arabia's decision to only recognise Pfizer and AstraZeneca.

Many other viruses, such as the influenza virus, rhinovirus and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), also spread this way. Respiratory droplets have a diameter greater than 5μm, while aerosol particles are less than 5μm in diameter (for reference, the diameter of a strand of Asian hair is 80-120μm). Respiratory droplets tend to rapidly fall to the ground due to gravity, hence limiting spread to within a short distance of the infected person. However, the smaller size of aerosol particles enables them to stay suspended in the air for minutes to hours. Spread and survivalThe content of respiratory droplets and aerosol particles depends on their origin in the respiratory tract.

The appeal was rejected by Court of Appeal president Tan Sri Rohana Yusuf and three other Federal Court judges, while the minority judgment came from Chief Justice Tun Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat and two other judges. “The second appellant remains the father of the boy, and the legal relationship between the father and mother does not alter the status of the child. “This effectively gives meaning to the oft-quoted reference to our Federal Constitution as a 'living piece of legislation'. The chief justice in her judgement said Article 5(1) of the Federal Constitution guarantees the right to life and personal liberty. The family was unsuccessful at the High Court and the decision was upheld at the Court of Appeal, resulting in the present appeal before the apex court.

RECENTLY, a member of my family, a doctor assigned to a Covid-19 intensive care unit (ICU), told me she never imagined the pandemic situation would come to this. “We are at a time when we have to choose which Covid-19 patients will get the ICU beds because resources are limited. Medical personnel, on their own initiative, check on the well-being of their discharged patients. She had no money and no one to take care of her, so they called their friends, NGOs and Good Samaritans to help the lady. Can the government set up a unit to handle this neglected area, please?
