HARPER, Maryland County – In Harper, the Reading Room serves 2 schools, the G.T. Established in the early 1920s, the George Tubman Brewer was built by the first Superintendent of Harper, Joseph Gibson. He expressed appreciation to KEEP Liberia and commended the organization on the work it has done in Maryland. Earlier in the day, there was also the dedication of the Reading Room at the Pleebo Demonstration School which caters to 2,100 students. The Pleebo Demonstration school’s Reading Room is valued at US$19,000.

The Kendeja Public School is a government institution whose educational component is being run by Bridge Liberia, one of the Liberia Educational Advancement Program (LEAP) – a partner to the Ministry of Education.

Congo Town – Private security guards at the Unity Party headquarters where Senator Abraham Darius Dillon is expected to climax his political campaign have arrested a man identified as Patrick Ballah in possession of a single barrel gun and several rounds. He was booked by a female security guard at the entrance while trying to make his into the compound. When quizzed why he was in possession of firearm, he said it was for his personal protection. “I brought the arm so I can protect myself because my friend informed me that some guys were coming to attack me. Ballah further stated that he is a resident of the Police Academy Community and is a strong supporter of the opposition Collaborating Political Parties (CPP).

Monrovia – President George M. Weah has strongly condemned a reported act of political violence which took place in Porkpar District, Grand Cape Mount County, ahead of Tuesday’s Senatorial elections. The President said the government will not condone such violent action by any group of citizens and political party. He was refering to reports that a convoy belonging to the opposition CPP Senatorial candidate in Grand Cape Mount County, Simeon Taylor, came under attack and two of his vehicles set ablaze after a tussle ensued between rival supporters of political parties. President Weah emphasized that elections are about the exercise of people’s democratic rights and should be void of any kind of violence. The President then warned that the Government will not hesitate in bringing to book any group of individuals who engages in acts of violence during and after the upcoming elections.

Rep. Sheriff could not tell FrontPageAfrica about the whereabouts of Mr. Taylor, neither could he say anything about his well-being. According to him, being that they know that Mr. Taylor would often lodge at his residence, they moved on his house and began firing at the house. He added, “When they started shooting at the house and my people called me, I asked all of them to leave the house before anyone gets hurt. He said, the Police Commander in the district informed that the problem was bigger and that he (Rep. Sheriff) needed to call the attention of national government.

MONROVIA – FrontPageAfrica has gathered that the campaign convoy of Mr. Simeon Taylor, the opposition Collaborating Political Parties candidate for the senatorial election has been set ablaze in Grand Cape Mount County. According to sources, Mr. Taylor’s campaign was invaded allegedly by some supporters of the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) which resulted into a tussle between supporters of the two political parties and led to the burning of Mr. Taylor’s vehicles. According to reports, Rep. Bob Sheriff of the district, who attempted calming the situation house was also set ablaze. FrontPageAfrica has not been able to ascertain the status of Mr. Taylor yet. FrontPageAfrica has also not been able to get comments from Mr. Watson or any member of his campaign team yet.

Margibi – Catholic Religious Group of Priests and Brothers have dedicated its educational institution in Liberia, the Xavier Jesuit School. The school has modern classroom facilities, bathrooms dinning hall and Libraries for students from nursery to elementary level. Bishop Ziegler stated that the dedication of the school is a dream come true for him. According to the principal of the School Rev. Oodo further explained that the Jesuit Order intends to transform the entire Wehn Town Community within 10 years period, through education and other social services.

ALIEU KOSIAH: “I am a founding member of Ulimo,” an emotional Kosiah told the court under grilling by lawyers for the victims who brought the case. Kosiah told the three-judge panel presiding over the case that Ulimo was formed out of late President Samuel K. Doe’s Armed Forces of Liberia. Victims lawyers’ had requested the court postpone the trial to a later date when the victims and witnesses could be present in the court. Additionally, the judging panel rejected the plaintiff’s lawyer’s request to expand Kosiah’s crimes to crimes against humanity in addition to war crimes. The case before a three-judge panel at the Federal Criminal Court in Bellinzona is a first for Switzerland under a 2011 law allowing prosecution for war crimes committed anywhere.
