GUTA have frequently confronted the Nigerian trading community in Ghana against retail trading in the Ghanaian markets. The Nigerian trading community has time without number argued that the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) protocols allow free movement of goods and people across West Africa. GUTA in its latest statement wants Nigerian retail shops closed. As a result, the operations of the Committee on Foreign retail trade, which was tasked to check and close down shops of recalcitrant foreigners was also halted.

He revealed that due to the call, the operations of the Committee on Foreign retail trade, which was tasked to check and close down shops of recalcitrant foreigners, was also halted, and we want them to resume or GUTA will start closing shops of foreigners. Speaking at a day’s training to highlight the agribusiness potential of snail farming and its economic benefits on Saturday Prof. Bosu said the initiative was to equip selected individuals with basic snail farming technologies. The workshop was jointly organized by CSIR and the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) in the Eastern Region. “It is no longer viable to be glued to the outmoded methods of farming and that was why CSIR and partners would collaborate to support young farmers to purchase modern farming equipment to get high returns on investment” he added. Kwame Sarfo Bonsu, Chief Technical Officer CSIR-Forestry Research Institute of Ghana in his presentation called for an increase in snail farming to make up for the shortage in its supply in recent times.

He insisted that customs officers were expected to use their weapons for defensive purposes and not in an offensive manner. Colonel Damoah warned that any unruly customs officer whose conduct dragged the image of the GRA in the mud would suffer the appropriate sanctions without delay and compromise.
