2 Navy crew members declared dead in Washington jet crash, efforts underway to recover bodies
The Navy on Sunday declared two aviators dead after their jet crashed in northeast Washington during an Oct. 15 training mission. A search-and-rescue effort that has been going on since the crash has now shifted to a recovery operation, a Navy official said. Wreckage of the EA-18G Growler jet was located Wednesday afternoon on a mountainside east of Mount Rainier, military officials said. Vail Mountain School student participates in New York Times Summer Academy
Vail Mountain School senior Sloane Thompson spent two weeks in The New York Times School Summer Academy studying photojournalism. The Vail Mountain senior, who also plays lacrosse for Battle Mountain, had found a new passion. Thompson participated in The School of the New York Times’ Summer Academy, spending two weeks at Fordham University with roughly 400 other high school sophomores, juniors and seniors. In the morning, New York Times photographers and photo journalists taught topics ranging from ethics to artificial lights and notable photographers’ techniques. Cornelio Joseph competed on America’s Got Talent the week before Vail Mountain School student Sloane Thompson took these photos.

Sanofi said Monday that it entered into exclusive talks with CD&R, choosing an offer from the New York-based private-equity firm to make Opella a standalone business.
