COMMENTARYB Rice/Adobestock“Nightmare begins responsibility.” –Michael S. Harper, MA, MFA (1938-2016)And so, the long, exhausting slog to the presidential election is finally over. It hardly needs saying that we must avoid imposing our own political views on our patients. In that context, there is potential for invading and exploiting the treatment relationship, especially when patients are asked to support political causes. Psychiatrists should refrain from attempting to influence the patient’s political views, although they may promote the patient’s civic engagement. Carmack HJ, DeGroot J M. World Series of Poker champion Daniel Negreanu wrote a scathing condemnation of the Democratic Party in an X post Wednesday after President-elect Trump’s election victory. Negreanu, a Canadian and vegan, bashed the party through a series of points. You discarded and defamed Tulsi Gabbard,” Negreanu wrote.” You didn’t invite Elon Musk to a summit on electric vehicles? You blocked Robbert Kennedy Jr. and others from having any path to make their cause in a primary. He previously wrote an article in which he praised Obama while criticizing the choice by John McCain to select Sarah Palin as a running mate in the 2008 election.

What exactly is the privacy agreement that's been made, perhaps on the patients' behalf, by the health care system? Different health care systems are making different deals, and ... many are doing a good job of this. “This is being piloted at many different health care systems right now,” Dr. Tolchin said. He cautioned that LLM models may be a technological fix for something that is more of a structural problem with the way health care is delivered. And I worry that the natural inclination of humans will be to say, ‘Oh, this is good enough,’” Dr. Tolchin said.

In recent years, the term DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion) has faced criticism, with concerns about tokenism, biases and division taking centre stage in management discussions. Ironically, the backlash against DEI efforts stems from their success; as with any significant social change, resistance is inevitable. Whether the DEI acronym stays or is replaced, or companies focus on inclusion and belonging to avoid backlash, the work does not change. It will take senior leaders supporting DEI and standing up to naysayers who are part of the backlash for DEI to be successful long-term. Regardless of whether the DEI acronym remains, evolves, or shifts focus to inclusion and belonging to mitigate backlash, the core work remains unchanged.
