Wheat production in Narok is anticipated to drop to about 1.2Million bags due to unfavorable weather patterns occasioned by prolonged dry spell experienced early in the season. Dr Lesiyampe said to satisfy the local demand for wheat, the government will import over 70 percent of the cereals as local farmers can only produce remaining 30 percent. "This year, we are expecting to get as little as 1.2Million bags of wheat from Narok due to bad weather patterns occasioned by the recent drought forcing us to import more from outside to meet the demand,"said Lesiyampe.
