Westpac customers have been caught by a technical issue that means some of their online banking transactions have been duplicated, or missed. The bank said displayed balances were correct and transactions that appeared to have been processed twice were in fact only put through once. Some customers on social media said that did not seem to be the case. "An issue has been identified that means some transactions for some customers are appearing as duplicates in their bank account," spokesman Will Hine said. We're working hard to remove the duplicate records and apologise to customers for any inconvenience."
