In the fiscal year 2022-23, Tamil Nadu achieved a significant milestone in mango exports, totaling ₹6.6 billion, including both mango pulp and fresh mangoes, with a collective weight of 66,900 tons. This was announced by E Somasundaram, Director of Agri-Business Management at Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, during a conference focused on 'Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) in mango cultivation and export.' During the conference, Somasundaram emphasized the importance of precision in mango cultivation and cluster farming to boost farmer incomes and export quality. The adoption of GAP was discussed as a means to add value to mango products and enhance export figures. Additionally, it was noted that mango exports to the United States saw a 19% increase in 2023-24 over the previous year, highlighting the potential for market expansion.
