KOTA KINABALU: A man was shot when he charged at policemen with a machete in Ranau district Monday. The neighbour called the police, fearing for his safety and that the man might damage other properties. Ranau police chief Deputy Supt Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah said a team of policemen arrived and tried to speak to the man at his house. He said the officers tried to persuade him to put down the weapon but the man refused and charged towards them. DSP Farhan said the man, who lives alone and is unmarried, was shot in the knee and on his chest.
