New Zealand exported $859 million of red meat in April. Surging demand from Japan helped hold New Zealand's red meat exports steady in April, despite disruption caused by the coronavirus outbreak. The figure was largely unchanged from the same month last year, according to the Meat Industry Association (MIA). Meat Industry Association chief executive Sirma Karapeeva said the industry was benefiting from strong relationships across different markets. "Processing and exporting companies are out there exploring these and other options.”In March 2020, total monthly red meat exports topped $1 billion for a single month for the first time.
