Now, however, Britain’s first pay-as-you-park app will use sensors in parking bays to charge motorists only for the time they are parked. The system, which has been launched in central London before being expanded nationally, could save motorists a small fortune. It has won a £200,000 grant from the Department for Transport and has the potential to wipe out fines by ensuring that motorists do not overstay without paying. Research this month estimated that motorists overpaid by an average of £209 annually, rising to £380 in London.…
