Ontario, Quebec Greyhound drivers, mechanics threaten to strike Sunday night


The union that represents 302 Greyhound Canada bus drivers and mechanics in Ontario and Quebec says it is prepared to strike at midnight Sunday night after several weeks of failed contract negotiations. A strike would mean bus service would halt through southern Ontario including in Windsor, London and Toronto, and in Ottawa, as well as on some routes around Montreal. A Greyhound spokesperson declined to discuss the details of the negotiations, but there are signs the company is manoeuvring to cope with changes in ridership. Contract expired in JuneThe contract for the drivers and mechanics expired in June. Lanesha Gipson, a Greyhound spokesperson based in Dallas, said in an email: "For now, we are running business as usual."
