A Nigerian woman was tied with a rope by the police here in a bid to restrain her after she allegedly attacked shopkeepers and policemen in an inebriated condition at National Market. Upparpet police arrived at the spot and tied her hands with a rope before putting her into an auto. General Hospital claimed that the woman, in her late 20s and identified as Mariam, had to be physically pinned down before being sedated. Witnesses alleged that the woman had turned violent and broke a glass pane, which shopkeepers objected to. Her hands had been tied with a rope when she was brought in the auto.
