New Zealand man mauled to death by dogs in attack - as locals fear three canines still on the loose

Some 25 dogs were living on a property where a man was killed in a fatal pack attack on New Zealand's north island. The 69-year-old retired builder was found dead at his Panguru home on Thursday afternoon, with three of the canines breaking loose. The pack sparked an alert for residents in the area, warning locals to be on the look-out for a 'brown, very large dog' which was considered dangerous. It is unclear if the attacking canines were roaming domestic dogs or part of a wild pack that was known in the area. Investigations are continuing into the death of the dog owner who lived alone on the property as one dog remains at large (pictured, Hokianga Beach in the area)
