Morocco’s security services deployed at the Southern Guergarate crossing point foiled on Sunday a smuggling attempt of 854 kg of cannabis, which were concealed in a truck registered in a sub-Saharan country. The drugs were discovered hidden among agricultural products destined to an African country, says a press release issued on Monday by the National police. The 38-year old driver and his assistant, 54, were arrested. An investigation was opened to identify their accomplices and determine the possible links between this smuggling operation and international drug-trafficking networks. Earlier this month, a similar joint operation led to the confiscation of seven tons of cannabis resin in the same region.
