IPOH: Sungai Siput MP Dr Michael Jeyakumar of PSM filed a defamation suit against fellow Opposition lawmaker, Sungkai assemblyman A. Sivanesan, at the Sessions Court here. This comes after Sivanesan of DAP failed to apologise for claiming in an article in a Tamil newspaper on May 21 that Dr Jeyakumar had not fully declared his assets. Sivanesan reportedly said the PSM leader "only partially declared his assets" and not those given to him by his "famous doctor father". Speaking to reporters later, Dr Jeyakumar said Sivanesan failed to retract his statement despite having been given ample time to do so. He said calls and letters to DAP leaders, including secretary-general Lim Guan Eng, seeking their intervention in the matter went unheeded.
