Ghazala Khan, the mother of a slain Muslim American war hero who appeared at the Democratic convention last week but did not speak, responded to Donald Trump’s criticisms in an op-ed published Sunday. “When Donald Trump is talking about Islam, he is ignorant. Donald Trump has children whom he loves. The Republican presidential nominee lashed out at the Muslim family after Khizr Khan, Ghazala’s husband, elegantly rebuked Trump and his anti-Muslim bigotry onstage in Philadelphia. Editor’s note: Donald Trump regularly incites political violence and is a serial liar, rampant xenophobe, racist, misogynist and birther who has repeatedly pledged to ban all Muslims ― 1.6 billion members of an entire religion ― from entering the U.S.
