A Dhaka University student has lost his both legs while trying to board on a running train at Shaheed M Monsur Ali station in Sirajganj. Sirajganj Government Railway police station Sub-Inspector Jakir Hossain said Shafiqul Islam Shanto, 22, had slipped while trying to grab the Dhaka-bound “Sirajganj Express” as it was leaving the station on Sunday morning. Shanto had both his legs severed by the speeding train, he added. The doctors gave him first aids and instantly referred him to National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (Nitor) in Dhaka. Shanto, son of one Shahjahan Ali Master from Boro Chakli village in Sirajganj sadar upazila, is a second year student of the mathematics department of the university.
