The accident occurred at the Shaheed M Mansur Ali Railway Station at the Sadar Upazila’s Kodda on Monday, said Railway Police SI Zakir Hossain. The victim has been identified as Shafiqul Islam Shanto, 22, a student of Dhaka University’s Department of Mathematics. Shanto came to the station to catch a train from his home in Sirajganj, Hossain said. Locals rushed him to Sirajganj Sadar Hospital, from where doctors transferred him to Dhaka’s National Institute of Traumatology & Orthopaedic Rehabilitation. “His legs were crushed but have not been severed from the body,” Shamimul Islam, a doctor at Sirajganj Sadar Hospital, told bdnews24.com.
