Canterbury health authorities are postponing all non-urgent surgeries and in-person outpatient appointments. The decision, which comes into effect on Tuesday ahead of New Zealand going into lockdown, applies across all Canterbury District Health Board (CDHB) facilities. As ot Tuesday morning, the CDHB had contacted patients to postpone more than 1400 inpatient and outpatient surgical procedures, with more to come. While there would be fewer procedures, Coward said there was no plan for the CDHB to scale back its workforce.
