An amount of ₹1,511 in pending wages has been transferred to the special account maintained for the purpose. The State had witnessed protests by MGNREGS workers in various districts over the past few weeks, as the pending wages piled up, causing much difficulties to the workers who depend on the wages for their daily survival. The Chief Minister as well as the Minister for Local Self Governments had sent requests to the Central government to clear the pending wages. The Hindu had on Monday reported that MGNREGS wages in the State had been pending since November. As many as 4.4 lakh families were provided with 100 days of work, while the average days of work provided per individual has now increased to 66.
