Sri Lanka made 117 in its first innings and Australia replied with 203. Starc dismissed Dimuth Karunaratne (0) lbw with the third delivery and with Sri Lanka still on its overnight score. Starc had figures of 2-28 and troubled the Sri Lanka top order with his bounce and swing. 4 batsman Kusal Mendis scored the bulk of runs for Sri Lanka and remained unbeaten on 86, including 13 boundaries.
