She is probably best known for her lifetime tenure focusing mainly on fiscal policy and federal budget issues at the Brookings Institution (first begun in 1957!) This was truly inspirational for me, as a DC-based fiscal policy economist and a mom (of four) about 30 years behind Alice. But if you are a female economist (congrats for hanging in there! ), especially if you are a female economist who’s also a mom (congrats for being a superwoman! Alice Rivlin was not just like my own “Economist Mom,” but the authentic, original and “Every Economist Mom” to current generations of economist moms everywhere.
