580 animals stolen as Pokot bandits raid Marakwet village


At least 50 armed Pokot bandits from Tiaty, Baringo county raided Ketut village, Marakwet East at 3am on Thursday. The raid has occurred two weeks after another raid that saw at least 100 cows and at least 400 goats stolen by Pokot bandits in Koibirir location on May 19. Area deputy county commissioner Eric Mulevu said the raiders, armed with AK-47 rifles, crossed the Kerio River and drove the animals deep into Baringo East. Alex Tangus, a resident of Ketut, said the number animals stolen in the incident could be more.
