Legendary Silver Ferns coach Dame Noeline Taurua has called for a change to the contact rules in the game to ensure players are safe and games are clean. Taurua believes any head-high contact should see the perpetrator removed from the game, to help protect players from head and neck injuries. “I would definitely put across anything that’s head high should be an automatic taken off the court,” she told nzherald.co.nz. In the AFL case players are seeking compensation for pain and suffering, economic loss and medical expenses due to head injuries. A similar class action in the United States brought by former NFL players resulted in an initial payout of more than US$1 billion.

When you fork out the kind of money you need to in order to fly business class, you expect to get exactly what you pay for. But a New Zealand man says he and his wife did not – and was compensated for the subpar experience. Morgan told the tribunal the Dubai-based carrier had even sent a photo of the business class seats onboard the newer planes after he had bought his ticket. “Emirates advertised a business class service that consumers were very unlikely to receive,” Disputes Tribunal referee Laura Mueller stated. “The advertising of a service that Emirates knew would unlikely be delivered is misleading and deceptive,” she remarked.

A day prior to the 2023 Women’s World Boxing Championship beginning in New Delhi, the president of the International Boxing Association (IBA) Umar Kremlev continued his war of words with the International Olympic Committee about the Olympic qualifiers ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympics. The premier organisation of boxing was suspended in 2019 by the IOC and the Tokyo Olympics qualification was handled by the Olympic committee itself. We are sure that all the boxers who support IBA will not participate in any other competitions organised by other organisations. “If the IOC wants boxing to be present at the Olympics, they need to cooperate with us, according to our constitution,” said Kremlev later in the conference. They’ve got to make an emphatic statement very soon … they’ve encouraged us to do everything we’re doing and advised us, but they could help more.”It didn’t take Kremlev long to swat away at the hint of a threat from a rival boxing federation’s plan to host its own World Boxing Championships.

That extra water vapour tends to fall out as extra rain, but it also provides extra energy to a storm. As the climate continues to change, storm intensity is likely to increase on average, as sea levels continue to rise. An ex-tropical cyclone like Gabrielle, moving over very warm water, can pack a devastating punch. That itself is partly related to the ongoing La Niña event in the tropical Pacific, which tends to pile up warm water (and tropical cyclones) in the west. Warmer seas load the atmosphere with water vapour.

The bank said overnight that withdrawals had continued into this month, even after it started a huge campaign to win back client confidence. The bitcoin price is much higher again today and is now at US$25,668 and up another +7.0% from this time yesterday.

The 2.75-metre great white Daisy has shown up again after going missing for a month. Rare conservation research has revealed the secret lives of great white sharks - live-tracking one on a more than 1000km round trip around the upper North Island. “A recent Niwa report shows 53 great white sharks were caught and killed in commercial fishing [over the past decade] - and that’s just what’s reported,” he said. A mum has been left gobsmacked after her daughter wrote a cheeky note back after she was given a “healthy” lunchbox for school. The Melbourne mum explained her primary school-aged daughter was refusing to eat the healthy items in her lunchbox for school every day. So instead of giving in, the mum replaced the special treats she would provide and swapped them for more healthy food until she learned her lesson. But when the mum opened the lunchbox it contained another item - a scathing note from her daughter. “This week after seeing yet another lunch box come home with all the healthy stuff untouched, I made good on my threat to only pack healthy stuff and no treats unless the healthy stuff was eaten,” the woman explained.

Women directly affected by the terror attacks have turned photographs of lost loved ones into artworks which are now being made into a powerful new exhibition. Over a series of therapeutic workshops, women who had family and friends murdered in the attacks have turned carefully-selected, deeply-personal photos, which they also felt communicated healing and peace, into remarkable prints. Dr Kiran Munir, who lost her husband in the terror attack, took part in the Finding Peace workshops. She said the exhibition is the final stage of the Finding Peace journey for the women, which will allow them to express and communicate their messages to the wider community. Ambreen Naeem, who lost her husband and son at Al Noor Mosque, says the workshops have helped her on her healing journey.
