Let me get this straight, we can’t fucking tax the greedy landlords whose interests have ruled NZ Politics AND National want to give them the legal right to be arsenal,es again. This sort of needles abuse of tenants is what led to the homelessness crises under National last time. Mark my words, if National get in, rents go up and landlords legally get to be arseholes again. So we can’t tax Landlord capital gains AND National will empower them to throw renters onto the street just to push up rentals?!? TDB Recommends NewzEngine.comThere is a class war happening in this country and because we are so intellectually weakened by identity politics, no one has the class vocabulary to actually call it for what it is!

She had two children – both now in their mid-30s – with Scott Simpson, who is the National MP for Coromandel. Then, after her re-election as councillor last year, the new guy, Wayne Brown, made her deputy mayor. In local paper snaps Simpson admires a worm farm, celebrates some new astroturf, poses near a twinkly-lit tree. (Photo: Bruce Mackay/Stuff)Given the praise heaped on Simpson for her subsequent performance as the public face of the floods, is Simpson going to run for mayor herself? There she is: the deputy mayor you’ll never see in a grey suit, walking very fast toward the Town Hall.

Photo: RNZ / Cole Eastham-FarrellyMiddlemore Hospital is promising it is now much harder for anyone to fake their way into a medical job there - after a bogus doctor saw 80 patients. But he also used his own name, despite being investigated for pretending to be a University of Auckland medical student ten years earlier. In a statement it said it had undertaken a thorough review of its vetting processes and made improvements. "The review has provided us with a level of confidence that the processes we have in place will prevent such an incident happening again," a spokesperson said. Another, an Auckland dermatology clinic, turned him down last August because by then he was in the news for his Middlemore offending.

Photo: NZ HeraldAn Invercargill couple say they were like "stunned mullets" after realising they'd just become Lotto multi-millionaires. ‘’It’s turned our world upside down!”The woman said she bought the ticket on MyLotto early Wednesday morning. But when I saw my numbers line up, followed by the words ‘Major Prize Winner,’ I immediately showed my husband." The man thought he had been pranked. You’re joking, right?”After realising they were, in fact, New Zealand’s latest multi-millionaires, the couple sat like “stunned mullets” before bursting into laughter and tears.

But the threat of legal action still hangs over the council's proposal, which is now expected to come into effect from 1 June. A report to council in February said developers opposed to the council's plans in Drury could seek a judicial review. He said the threat of legal action from developers was par for the course. "Developers have far too often got a bit of a free ride and the ratepayers and the councils end up paying."

The current Government has said that it will not implement a full Capital Gains tax although it did implement an extension to the bright line tax for land sales which for all purposes was effectively a capital gains tax for land. “The data, based on full income information from 311 of our wealthiest citizens, shows that the average person in this group pays an effective tax rate of just 8.9% tax on their economic income – that is, income from all sources, including capital gains on investments. Jacinda Ardern had ruled out a Capital Gains Tax while she was Prime Minister. Since the 1960s working group after working group have recommended a capital gains tax. Maybe what David Parker is doing is carefully and gradually opening the debate so that the current limited capital gains tax that we have can broadened and expanded.

Prime Minister Chris Hipkins delivered his pre-budget speech and experts are comparing aspects of it to National's campaign promises. Hipkins talked about reducing Government spending, highlighted strong immigration numbers and ruled out introducing a capital gains tax. The Prime Minister also promised spending would be directed to boost economic productivity, with skills, science and infrastructure labelled as priorities. NZ Herald business editor at large Liam Dann says Chris Hipkins' no-frills budget is more centrist than most Labour voters would be familiar with, comparing his speech to Bill English's previous statements.
