'It would be a shame if we left without that All-Ireland'By Kevin EganIt’s not hard to see why Offaly GAA went looking for Leo O’Connor to be part of the county’s hurling revival. Then in 2013 we were beaten in an All-Ireland semi-final, 2014 beaten in an All-Ireland final, 2015 beaten in a quarter-final, 2016 reach an All-Ireland minor final,” he said at last Sunday’s media event in the Faithful Fields. It’s going back to the tradition of Offaly hurling from the early 1980s and continuing on to the 1990s. We have beaten a Clare team in a semi-final, but we haven’t beaten any Munster team in a final. It’d be a shame if we left without that All-Ireland,” he added.

READ MOREI bedded in at a supermarket creche and survived with all my teeth and without contracting impetigo. Imagine playing with the Big Red Fun Bus inside a big red fun bus. Keep your Nintendo Switches and Emerald Park rollercoasters, nothing could ever beat a creche on a bus. Superquinn closed its creche facilities in 2006, and of course all Superquinns are now with O’Leary in the grave. But when I sing it, I’m telling a story about how I bedded in at a supermarket creche and survived with all my teeth and without contracting impetigo.

The FTSE 100 has fallen from record highs achieved earlier in May as investors have pushed back expectations of when central banks will begin cutting interest rates. The index has fallen roughly 3 per cent since then, derailing a rally driven by a buoyant equity market globally amid the prospect of looming interest rate cuts. However, the FTSE 100 is not alone among global equity market peers in seeing recent gains capped. This would likely be received badly by investors, potentially driving Treasury yields higher and further denting equity market confidence. 'Rishi Sunak's promise to deliver interest rate cuts if he wins the upcoming election won't be a potent enough prospect to lift the mood just yet.'
