China calls war in Gaza 'a disgrace to civilisation'
China, historically sympathetic to the Palestinian cause, has been calling for a ceasefire since the war began when Hamas militants attacked Israel on October 7. The war has reduced vast stretches of Gaza to a wasteland of gutted buildings and rubble and sparked a humanitarian disaster for its 2.4 million people. Health ministry spokesman Ashraf al-Qudra said "the famine in northern Gaza has reached lethal levels" and could claim thousands of lives unless Gaza receives more aid and medical supplies. British Foreign Minister David Cameron also pressed Israel on Wednesday to increase the flow of aid into Gaza. Gaza officials blamed the deaths on Israeli gunfire, while the army insisted most were trampled or run over.

Defense attorneys say the cluttered supply office was not searched until a month after the fatal shooting, undermining the significance of physical evidence there.

India Feb consumer price inflation forecast to edge lower: Reuters poll
"We forecast CPI inflation rose slightly, to 5.3%, in February, with a modest sequential rise in food and core prices. Price pressures largely remain in check, and food prices are coming off gradually," wrote Rahul Bajoria, chief India economist at Barclays. "This should keep the RBI on the sidelines for longer, with no urgency to cut rates given robust growth. "Given the large weightage of food and fuel on India's consumer price index, this could drive up headline inflation in the coming months. "The poll also estimated core inflation in India, which strips out volatile food and energy prices, was likely at 3.50% in February, according to the median forecast of 26 economists.
