The ECI has accepted the nomination of pro-Khalistani and Waris Punjab De chief Amritpal Singh to contest from Khadoor Sahib as an independent candidate. On the other hand, Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) chief Sukhbir Singh Badal hit out at Amritpal Singh, saying Amritpal only wanted to get out of jail by contesting the election. “He is not a Bandi Singh,” Badal asserted. Traditionally, local voters here have voted more in favour of ‘panthic’ SAD candidates. In 1996, Congress won and then SAD candidates won in 1998, 1999 and 2004 polls.

Southwest monsoon arrival on May 31, says IMD
This year, the southwest monsoon is likely to set over Kerala on May 31, with a model error of ±4 days. The normal date of southwest monsoon arrival over the Kerala coast is June 1. However, in 2022, the southwest monsoon hit the Kerala coast on 29 May though the IMD termed it as near normal arrival. IMD, in its statement, said the Southwest Monsoon is likely to advance into the South Andaman Sea, some parts of the Southeast Bay of Bengal and the Nicobar Islands around May 19. The advance of the southwest monsoon over the Indian mainland is marked by monsoon onset over Kerala.

Wall Street today: US stocks surge after inflation data, Treasury yields ease
The April inflation data has bolstered hopes of interest rate cuts from the US Federal Reserve later this year. At the opening bell, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 56.99 points, or 0.14 per cent, to 39,615.10. The 10-year Treasury yields eased to 4.38 per cent from 4.45 per cent late on Tuesday. Brent crude futures were down 54 cents or 0.6 per cent at $81.84 a barrel at 1140 GMT. US gold futures rose 0.6 per cent to $2,372.70.

Double whammy: Drought or rain, it’s only loss for farmers in Karnataka

SBI ने FD की ब्याज दरें 0.75% तक बढ़ाईं, 180 से 210 दिन तक की FD पर 6% रिटर्न मिलेगास्टेट बैंक ऑफ इंडिया (SBI) ने फिक्स्ड डिपॉजिट (FD) की ब्याज दरों में इजाफा किया है। SBI ने 46 दिन से 179 दिन तक की FD की ब्याज दर 4.75% से बढ़ाकर 5.50% कर दी है। वहीं 180 दिन से 210 दिन तक की FD पर अब 5.75% की बजाय 6% ब्याज मिलेगा। इसी तरह 211 दिन से 1 साल से कम समय की FD पर अब 6% की जगह 6.25% ब्याज मिलेगा। नई ब्याज दरें 15 मई से लागू हो चुकी हैं।FD से मिलने ब्याज पर देना होता है टैक्स: FD से मिलने वाला ब्याज पूरी तरह से टैक्सेबल होता है। यह आपकी एनुअल इनकम में जुड़ता है। चूंकि FD पर मिले इंटरेस्ट इनकम को 'इनकम फ्रॉम अदर सोर्सेज' माना जाता है, इसलिए इसे टैक्स डिडक्टेड एट सोर्स या TDS के तहत चार्ज किया जाता है। जब बैंक आपकी ब्याज आय को आपके अकाउंट में जमा करता है, तो उसी समय TDS काट लिया जाता है।पूरी खबर यहां पढ़ें...7. झारखंड के मंत्री आलमगीर आलम अरेस्ट, PS के नौकर के पास 35 करोड़ कैश मिले थेED ने झारखंड के ग्रामीण विकास मंत्री आलमगीर आलम को 7 घंटे की पूछताछ के बाद गिरफ्तार कर लिया। उनके PS के नौकर के घर से 35 करोड़ रुपए कैश मिले थे। मामला टेंडर कमीशन घोटाले में मनी लॉन्ड्रिंग का है। आलमगीर को आज PMLA कोर्ट में पेश किया जाएगा।मनी लॉन्ड्रिंग केस में दूसरी गिरफ्तारी: आलमगीर आलम झारखंड की महागठबंधन सरकार में कांग्रेस के कोटे से मंत्री हैं। वह पाकुड़ विधानसभा से चार बार विधायक चुने जा चुके हैं। झारखंड के पूर्व CM हेमंत सोरेन भी मनी लॉन्ड्रिंग के एक अन्य मामले में ED की गिरफ्त में हैं।पूरी खबर यहां पढ़ें...8.

भिंड के उमरी थाना क्षेत्र में एक 12 वर्षीय बालक को एक बोलेरो वाहन चालक ने टक्कर मार दी। वाहन चालक तेज रफ्तार से भाग निकला। बालक को जिला अस्पताल उपचार के लिए लाया गया जहां उसकी मौत हो गई। यह घटना बुधवार देर शाम की है।. जानकारी के मुताबिक उमरी के पांडरी रो पर रहने वाले आंशु पुत्र इंदल जाटव उम्र 12 साल अपने घर से किराने की दुकान पर सामान लेने जा रहा था। घर से सौ कदम दूरी पर पहुंचा था तभी पीछे से आए आई तेज रफ्तार बोलेरो कार ने टक्कर मार दी। तभी मां अनीतादेवी घर बाहर थी उसकी आंखों के सामने बोलेरो चालक टक्कर देकर भाग गया।मां ने दौड़कर बेटे को उठाया उसके सिर में गंभीर चोट आई थी जब परिवार जन जिला अस्पताल लेकर पहुंचे यहां चिकित्सकों ने मृत घोषित कर दिया है। इसके बाद उमरी थाना पुलिस को अस्पताल चौकी से सूचना दी गई। पुलिस ने शव का पीएम कराया। पुलिस वाहन चालक की तलाश में जुटी है।
