A man has been charged with multiple counts of murder after at least 11 people, including a five-year-old, were killed when a car ploughed into a crowd at a Filipino street festival in Vancouver on Saturday. Kai-Ji Adam Lo, 30, was charged with eight counts of second-degree murder by prosecutors in British Columbia and local police confirmed that further charges were anticipated. Vancouver officials have declared the attack the “darkest day” in the city’s history and warned that the death toll could rise as dozens were injured, many critically. Lo appeared in court on Sunday, a day after he is alleged to have rammed his SUV into crowds attending the Lapu Lapu Day festival at about 8.14pm local time (4.14am UK time) on Saturday.
