South Africa finds its self among the last 16 standing at the 2023 CAF Africa Cup of Nations being held in Côte d'Ivoire. The Bafana Bafana, participating in their 11th AFCON, are on a quest to claim their second title. Their football history is rich, highlighted by their triumphant win in 1996, a second-place finish in 1998, and a third-place in 2000. Despite a mix of highs and lows in recent years, including quarter-final spots in 2002, 2013, and 2019, South Africa has shown resilience and determination. Under the guidance of Belgian coach Hugo Broos, the 2019 AFCON-winning coach with Cameroon, South Africa has demonstrated a fighting spirit.
