CAIRO - 9 January 2022: Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas arrived in Egypt on Sunday to participate in the he fourth edition of Egypt’s World Youth Forum (WYF) due to kick off on Monday in Sharm El Sheikh city, said the Palestinian embassy in Egypt in a statement. President Abbas’ two day-visit comes at President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s invitation to attend the forum activities, the statement added. The Palestinian President was received by Egyptian Minister of Environment Yassmine Fouad, a delegation from the Egyptian Intelligence Services, and Palestinian ambassador to Egypt and the Arab League Diab el Louh. Palestinian President is being accompanied by an official delegation, the embassy added. Egypt’s 4th edition of the World Youth Forum (WYF) held on Saturday two preparatory workshops ahead of the opening session scheduled for Monday.

CAIRO - 9 January 2022: The Fifth Settlement Misdemeanour Court decided on Sunday to re-detain businessman Mohamed Al-Amin for 45 days pending investigations for sexually abusing girls in his orphanage and for charges of human trafficking in Upper Egypt’s Beni Suef. Egypt's Public Prosecution announced on Saturday detaining Al-Amin pending investigations for the above-mentioned charges, according to a statement by the prosecution. As per the prosecution,, Al-Amin faces the charge of human trafficking and indecent assault. Police investigations affirmed that Al-Amin had committed the crime, the statement said. Al-Amin is a prominent Egyption Businessman who founded the CBC channels group, Modern network along with the Arab News Agency [AUA], and Al-Nahar TV.

South Sinai Security Directorate had received a report from the Roads Security Department on Saturday morning of a collision on the International Road at al-Tor and the Martyr Ahmed Hamdi Tunnel in South Sinai between a bus on its way to Sharm el-Sheikh and a micro-bus, killing fourteen people and injuring 17 others. The Public Prosecution Office was notified to investigate the accident and an operating room was formed to follow up on the accident to determine its causes. The agency added that the number of car accident deaths rose to 3,484 in 2019 – an increase of 12.9 percent. The rate of car accidents increased to 27.4 accidents per day in 2019, it said. CAPMAS attributed the main cause of car accidents to human error at 79.7 percent of the total road accident causes in 2019, followed by technical vehicle defects at 13.5 percent.

Egyptian judicial and security sources said that police arrested businessman Mohamed al-Amin from his villa in Cairo on charges of human trafficking and acts punishable by law against girls in an orphanage that he founded in Beni Suef governorate, Upper Egypt. The police filed a case with the incident and referred it to the Public Prosecution to conduct further investigations. The state-owned al-Akhbar newspaper reported sources following investigations as saying that two girls accused Amin of molesting them. Amin attended investigations on Friday at the Public Prosecution Office, which concluded in detaining the suspect for four days pending investigations. The Public Prosecution also demanded investigations by the Department of Human Trafficking and Illegal Immigration to reveal further details of the incident.

A policeman was handed a six-month suspended prison sentence by the Bobigny court in Paris. On December 24, 2021, the Moroccan authorities have extended the suspension of commercial flights to and from Morocco until January 31, 2022, as part of the Kingdom's efforts to curb the spread of the Coronavirus, especially the "Omicron" mutant. The passengers could book their seats on the flight by attending in person at the headquarters of the EgyptAir office in Casablanca, or by calling the phone numbers of the EgyptAir office in Casablanca. All travelers heading to Egypt (except for children under 12 years old), should obtain COVID-19 vaccination certificates or negative PCR test certificates that should be issued 72 hours before the departure of the flight, the embassy added.
