It is also a great example of the big business of Christmas movies. Is Nollywood missing out on the big business of Christmas movies? Christmas movies can also spawn sequels, spin-offs, books, toys, and other products that boost brand value and fan engagement. Currently, watching Christmas movies for many Nigerians is synonymous with watching either Hollywood classics or Mount Zion movies that carry strong Christian values of Christmas. However, this does not mean that Nollywood is missing out on the big business of Christmas movies.

Abu Dhabi National Oil Co. (ADNOC) last week signed a 15-year heads of agreement with ENN LNG (Singapore) Pte. Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of ENN Natural Gas Co. Ltd., for the delivery of at least 1 million tonnes/year (tpy) of LNG. The LNG will primarily be sourced from ADNOC’s 9.6-million tpy low-carbon Ruwais LNG plant, under development in Al Ruwais Industrial City, Abu Dhabi, and expected to start commercial operations in 2028. ADNOC says Ruwais LNG, which will use two 4.8-million tpy trains, will be the first LNG plant in the Middle East and North Africa to run on clean power, making it “one of the lowest-carbon intensity LNG plants in the world.” It will more than double ADNOC’s LNG production. The company earlier this year hired Baker Hughes Co. to supply two all-electric compression systems for Ruwais LNG (OGJ Online, Oct. 4, 2023).

Libya’s stock market re-opened Monday December 25 for trading in the buying and selling of shares for entities listed in the Libyan Stock Market nine years after closure. The Premier expressed his desire for all Libyans to participate in the Libyan Stock Market, wishing it would not only to be limited to institutions, but also to individuals and large sectors. “The importance of the stock market is embodied in doubling the gross domestic product and helping to close the budget deficit, which reduces the burden on the state’s general budget,” he said. The Libyan stock market was launched in 2006 and faced interruptions in the aftermath of the NATO-backed uprising in 2011 and subsequent civil war, leading to the suspension of trading on multiple occasions. Trade is anticipated to resume in Benghazi, the second city next week, marking a broader effort to restore financial activities across the country.

Stand-up comedy is taking Senegal by storm, with a crew of young comics gaining recognition well beyond the West African country's borders. Shows with names like "Dakar fait sa comedy" ("Dakar does comedy"), "Fest' rire" ("Laugh Fest"), "Afrique du rire" ("African Laugh") are springing up across the capital Dakar. Their inspiration comes from French stars such as Jamel Debbouze ou Gad Elmaleh, both of North African descent. The goal, he says, is to develop new talent, but also to seek wider exposure for Senegalese humour. Abba acknowledges that, if they are to expand into international markets, Senegalese comics will have to work more in French than in Wolof, the local language.
