Two tankers have been damaged in a suspected attack in the Gulf of Oman, a month after a similar incident in which four tankers in the region were struck. The tankers — Front Altair, carrying a Marshal Islands flag, and Kokuka Courageous, with a Panama flag — have been evacuated and the crews were safe, shipping and trade sources said. The US Fifth Fleet, based in Bahrain, said in a statement: “We are aware of the reported attack in the Gulf of Oman. US naval forces in the region received two separate distress calls at 3am UK time and a second one less than an hour later.
