Spain drops to 32nd in English language rankings, Murcia among the worst performing regions

In 2012 Spain was ranked 18th in the survey, but this year it has slipped to a mid-table 32nd in the list of 88, sandwiched neatly between South Korea and Lebanon. At the bottom of the table, meanwhile, are Iraq and Libya, while France and Italy are the only western European nations lower than Spain. Within Spain there is quite some variation from region to region, with the highest level of English reported to be in Navarra (with a score of 58.17) and Madrid (57.94). It is to be expected that these developments will eventually bring positive results, but according to the EF rankings there is still a long way to go before Spain can be said to have passed the English exam with flying colours!
