MONTREAL—Quebec government is demanding that Ottawa come up with a new plan for handling asylum seekers with projections that up to 400 people each day could begin crossing into Canada this summer. “Last year, we peaked at about 250 a day and that was considered massive,” said Quebec Immigration Minister David Heurtel. Between Jan. 1 and April 14 of this year, 6,074 asylum seekers have arrived in Quebec, three times more than that which entered last year.
