A 22 member team of the Geological Survey of Bangladesh (GSB) has found the presence of iron ore in the samples collected during a survey at Hili, Dinajpur. GSB is conducting drilling campaigns to further explore the possibilities of an iron mine. Dinajpur 6 MP Shibly Sadik inaugurated the drilling campaign at Ishobpur village of Alihat union, Hili on April 19. The existence of the first ever iron mine in Bangladesh was first discovered in Murshidpur of Hakimpur upazila back in 2013. According to GSB members of this project, not only the presence of an iron mine is first in Bangladesh, it would likely be among the top 10 iron mines in the world.
