Clashes between Israelis and Palestinians erupted on Thursday, a day after President Donald Trump said the U.S. would recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and ordered the first steps toward moving the American embassy to the holy city. The Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas, which controls the Gaza Strip, called for a new uprising against Israel. A rocket fired from Gaza landed inside the country, but no one was hurt. It drew Israeli artillery fire and an airstrike in response, the military said.
